Our Roots

The Missouri Lottery Commission was created by a constitutional amendment that passed on Nov. 6, 1984, and lottery ticket sales began on Jan. 20, 1986. The Missouri Lottery became the 23rd lottery in the United States at the time. Since then, the Lottery has provided the state of Missouri, including a variety of educational programs, with more than $8 billion in proceeds.
