$50,000 Powerball Prize Helps with Wedding Planning

Sep 17, 2025

A Quick Pick ticket led to a Missouri Lottery player winning a $50,000 prize in the Aug. 30 Powerball drawing – money the winner says will go toward his wedding. The player purchased the winning ticket at Break Time, 7701 Roanoke Drive, in Columbia.

“I normally don’t play, but I just stepped up to the vending machine and let it pick out my numbers,” he said.

The day after the drawing, he checked his numbers only to realize he won.

“It was super exciting,” he said. “I’m getting married soon, so this will help with that.”

The winning numbers that night were 3, 18, 22, 27 and 33 with a Powerball number of 17.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.

In FY24, players in Boone County won more than $23.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $53.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
