Mega Millions Player to be '100% Debt-Free' Following $100,000 Win

Sep 18, 2025

A Mega Millions ticket purchased at Casey’s, 102 E. Highway 136 in Rock Port, led to a $100,000 win for a Missouri Lottery player in Atchison County following the Sept. 2 drawing.

“I heard on Saturday someone had won. I didn't even know I had it on me,” the winner laughed. “I checked and SURPRISE!”

The winning Mega Millions numbers that night were 7, 17, 35, 40 and 64, with a Mega Ball number of 23. The ticket matched four of five white-ball numbers drawn, as well as the Mega Ball number, to win a base prize of $10,000. Since Mega Millions tickets now automatically include a multiplier feature, his prize was instantly increased by the multiplier number printed next to his play. The “10X” printed on his ticket meant his prize was immediately multiplied by 10 – producing a total prize of $100,000.

When asked about plans for his winnings, he replied, “We are going to be 100% debt-free.”

Mega Millions is a multi-state Draw Game that costs $5 per play with large jackpots that start at $50 million and a second-tier prize of up to $10 million. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday evening at 10 p.m. Friday’s estimated jackpot is $423 million.

In FY24, players in Atchison County won more than $715,000 in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $75,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $320,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
