Show Me Cash Winner: 'Mom was Overjoyed'

Oct 08, 2025

A Missouri Lottery player in Butler won a $249,000 Show Me Cash prize, and he was excited to share his good news – but his excitement paled in comparison to his mother’s reaction.

“My mother was excited as I was. She was probably more overjoyed than me,” he laughed. “She insisted she take me down to turn the ticket in (at Lottery Headquarters).”

“It’s been a joyous ride for me,” he added. “I’m still rather shocked, and I’m still going to continue to play!”

The winning Show Me Cash ticket he purchased at Casey’s, 1120 W. Fort Scott St. in Butler, was one of two tickets for the Sept. 17 drawing that matched all five numbers drawn – 2, 10, 15, 17 and 24. He and the other winning ticket holder split the $498,000 jackpot equally.

Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $72,000.

In FY24, Bates County players won more than $2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $200,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $755,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
